Episode 11: It Doesn't Have To Be Fancy, Just Effective
Friday Aug 21, 2015
Friday Aug 21, 2015
You'd think a team with 77 wins this early in the season would be on cruise control, but the St. Louis Cardinals are still fighting to keep their divisional lead. Dan and Daniel talk about the overwhelming lack of anything resembling a consistent offense, wondering just what it'd take for this club to start rolling. They also ponder just exactly what Peter Bourjos did to warrant never seeing the field again, who might get dropped from a postseason rotation, and who might return from their injuries and when. Mike Matheny for Manager of the Year? They weigh in on that and talk about the upcoming West Coast trip. Plus a little movie talk and a chance for you to give your opinion on what show the guys should talk about once the fall season begins!

Episode 10: More Than One Way To Win
Sunday Aug 16, 2015
Sunday Aug 16, 2015
We've reached double digits on BDIB and Dan and Daniel are still astounded by the almost historic pitching level that we see on a nightly basis out of the Cardinals. They talk about Jaime Garcia's great start against the Marlins, Lance Lynn's not-nearly-a-good-start against the Pirates, and the yeoman's work done by Daniel's Patron Pitcher, Tyler Lyons. It's not all pitching, though, as they talk about the lack of power shown by those wearing the Birds on the Bat and how both of them wish Brandon Moss could break through. They wrap it up with Dan's movie recommendations and a detailed discussion of CupGate, which you won't want to miss.

Episode 9: Pitching In
Friday Aug 07, 2015
Friday Aug 07, 2015
The trade deadline has come and gone and the dog days of summer are upon us. However, that doesn't keep Dan and Daniel from spending a good long time talking about the news of the day when it comes to the Cardinals. They talk about the pitching staff and especially the new-look, heavily-fortified bullpen. The offense does get its turn in the limelight as well, though a smaller slice befitting the struggles they are having. The guys talk about re-signing Jason Heyward and answer some Twitter questions, so sit back and enjoy!

Episode 8: A Traded Pitcher Gathers Some Moss
Saturday Aug 01, 2015
Saturday Aug 01, 2015
It's been a little crazy in baseball in general and St. Louis in particular lately and so Dan and Daniel get together to try to make some sense out of it all. They try to make some sense out of the deal for Brandon Moss, talk about the fact that the Cardinals are going to get one BILLON (with a b) dollars to play on TV, and discuss what kind of trade they'd like to see as the deadline nears, even though none is likely forthcoming. Dan finishes with his movie picks of the week so be sure to stick around for that!

The Best Dans in Baseball get their first trade to talk about as the Cardinals acquire Steve Cishek from Miami earlier in their recording day. Dan and Daniel talk about what that means for the bullpen, what kind of roster moves will be made, and how this affects what else John Mozeliak may have up his sleeve for the week to come. Also, they talk about the breakout season of Randal Grichuk, the debut and ramifications of Stephen Piscotty, and what to do about Matt Carpenter. They wrap it up with their thoughts on Ant-Man and Dan's movie pick of the week. It's a long one, so buckle up!

Friday Jul 17, 2015

It's the All-Star Break, but that doesn't keep The Best Dans in Baseball from talking up a storm, dealing with everything from a disappointing series with the Pirates to whether the voters got it right with the Franchise Four which was announced on Tuesday. In between, Dan and Daniel talk about Trevor Rosenthal's soreness and Albert Pujols's jocularity before diving into the potential trade targets and trade chips that John Mozeliak may be focusing on in the next couple of weeks. Episode 5: The Dark Side and the Light
Friday Jul 10, 2015
Friday Jul 10, 2015
The Cardinals might have gone 5-2 since the last time Dan and Daniel got together, but it sure wasn't an easy week, with Jhonny Peralta's last-ditch homer shaking the doldrums and helping Cardinal fans breathe a little easier. The Dans talk about that Chicago series, including that ugly doubleheader, as well as the first game of the four game set against the Pirates. They also discuss St. Louis's unique roster move dance to get Dan Johnson to the majors and Stephen Piscotty to first base, the Cardinal representatives for the All-Star Game and how the best of the bunch may be the one not guaranteed to go, and what is coming up for the Cards in the second half. Plus Dan reviews Minions!

Episode 4: Murphy's Law
Sunday Jul 05, 2015
Sunday Jul 05, 2015
When it rains it pours and that apparently extends to podcasts relating to the Cardinals. After a misfire on their regular night, Dan and Daniel come back and do it right this time, hitting all the various issues relating to the club that has lost four straight. The offense is sputtering and that draws a lot of attention from the guys, even causing them to resuscitate those old rumors about the guy that plays in Colorado. Mark Reynolds has been struggling--is Xavier Scruggs the answer? Will John Mozeliak quickly make a trade? Plus they talk about the latest in the Cardinals/Astros hacking scandal and the firing of scouting director Chris Correa. Dan wraps it up with some movie recommendations, so be sure to stick around until the bitter end!

Episode 3: Living The Good Life
Friday Jun 26, 2015
Friday Jun 26, 2015
Dan and Daniel are back for another episode of The Best Dans in Baseball, fresh off watching the Cards run through Philadelphia and Miami. In this installment, the guys talk about the pitching of the Cardinals in general and Jaime Garcia in particular. They also discuss how good that John Lackey trade looks now that both Allen Craig and Joe Kelly are part of Boston's AAA team. Injuries to Matt Holliday and Jordan Walden take their turn in the spotlight, with both players hopefully coming back soon.
Is Mike Matheny just lucky or does he know just when to use folks? It's a reasonable question after watching Pete Kozma go 3-for-3. Is his use of Jon Jay problematic? Is Peter Bourjos really not getting a fair shake? And can this explosive offense continue when St. Louis runs into a real pitching staff?
All that and more in this episode of BDIB!

Saturday Jun 20, 2015
Saturday Jun 20, 2015
The Dans are at it again, dealing with the hacking scandal that the Cards got themselves embroiled in as well as some baseball-related topics. We touch on the offense and what it needs, who should come up from Memphis, and remember that week in June 13 years ago where we lost two icons of Cardinal history.
