Episode 99: Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot
Friday Dec 28, 2018
Friday Dec 28, 2018
It's the end of the year but that doesn't mean there's not a little bit of Cardinal news for Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) to discuss before the calendar flips. St. Louis went to Miller, bringing in Andrew to solidify the left side of the bullpen. How will he be used? Is this a good move for the Redbirds? The Cards also brought back Francisco Pena to back up Yadier Molina, which could have some serious ramifications in 2019--or be a move that really doesn't matter.
Then the guys talk about the year that was 2018. From the firing of Mike Matheny and the hiring of Mike Shildt to the trade for Paul Goldschmidt and everything in between, Daniel and Allen look back on the past 12 months as they get ready for another fun year of Cardinal baseball.
Thanks to everyone that's listened to the show this year, as it has been our best year yet (as measured by average downloads). Here's to more good stuff in 2019!

Episode 98: Dex The Halls
Monday Dec 17, 2018
Monday Dec 17, 2018
The stove might not be blazing, but Twitter sure has been this past week. In this Christmas edition of Meet Me at Musial, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) spend a lot of time talking about Dexter Fowler, given the interview that he gave with Derrick Goold this week. They talk about his frame of mind, how this story will affect his playing time next year, and what this means for the Cardinals' chase (or, more appropriately, amble) after Bryce Harper. The guys also talk about the deal of Patrick Wisdom to Texas, the FOX Sports Midwest kerfluffle, and what the team really should be looking for in a backup catcher. Happy holidays from us all!

Episode 97: All That Glitters Is Not Gold....But Some of It Is!
Friday Dec 07, 2018
Friday Dec 07, 2018
Hello, Paul Goldschmidt! The Cardinals went big to address their offensive issues and Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) are here to cover all the angles. The guys talk about what Goldschmidt might bring to what the Cardinals gave up for him, plus the issues relating to him only being under contract for one year. Does this mean no Bryce Harper? What else will the Cards do this winter, especially with the winter meetings about to start up? Which Cardinals might not be wearing the birds on the bat next season? It's a pretty focused show around the new acquisition!

Episode 96: Poking at the Stove
Saturday Dec 01, 2018
Saturday Dec 01, 2018
While it's been a warm weekend for the guys, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) still would like a little heat from the stove. Josh Donaldson has gone to Atlanta, so what does that tell us about the Cardinals and their offseason plans? Jerry DiPoto is still wheeling and dealing, which could have St. Louis implications. The Cards signed Chasen Shreve and the non-tender deadline passed without any drama. When will the action pick up? The guys also talk about a Paul Goldschmidt trade and general philosophy about this offseason. Give it a listen!

Episode 95: Comings and Goings, Real and Potential
Saturday Nov 10, 2018
Saturday Nov 10, 2018
The guys are back with a little late fall Meet Me at Musial action and this time Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) have brought along that popular Internet sensation Kyle Reis (Prospects After Dark, Birds on the Black, @kyler416) to talk about various aspects of the Cardinals. The guys talk about the departures of Greg Garcia, Matt Bowman, and Francisco Pena, get into the interesting construction of the Adam Wainwright contract, then talk about the latest rumors concerning the Cards. Should the Cards deal for Paul Goldschmidt? Who do you believe in the media?
Kyle then gets into the Rule 5 folks and who will, should, and might be protected plus we spend a little time with the Arizona Fall League. It all wraps up with Kyle and Allen making their selections for the 12th annual Cardinal Blogger Awards. Come get warm by the stove!

Episode 94: MoSpeak
Tuesday Oct 16, 2018
Tuesday Oct 16, 2018
Some technical issues gave Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) and Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) a chance to redo their show after John Mozeliak addressed the press on Tuesday morning. The closed media session provided plenty of fodder for discussion. Did the President of Baseball Ops really rule out a big acquisition? What does the coaching staff look like for 2019? Are the Cards unhappy with Marcell Ozuna? All this plus some Adam Wainwright talk and the guys answer a Twitter question!

Episode 93: A Look Back, A Look Forward
Monday Oct 01, 2018
Monday Oct 01, 2018
The Cardinals--well, there's really no good way to put this, is there? The fact that they fell on their faces hard in the last week, turning a 1.5 game lead into a meaningless Sunday game after they were eliminated Saturday. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) look back at the week that was and try to find a few reasons for the ugly collapse. There's talk about Adam Wainwright, Luke Weaver, Dexter Fowler, free agents, the rotation, the bullpen....you name it, the guys touch on it. It's a good starting spot for the long winter ahead. Come join them!

Episode 92: Things Are Threatening To Get Wild
Thursday Sep 20, 2018
Thursday Sep 20, 2018
After a week off, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) come back together to survey a bit different Cardinal landscape. Four straight losses, including three to the Dodgers, had the Cards out of the October picture but winning three of four put them right back in the driver's seat. What should we expect this weekend against the Giants? Is Adam Wainwright for real? What would a playoff rotation or roster look like? How do you judge Matt Carpenter this year after his slow bookends to his scalding salsa-fueled run? A little look ahead to the offseason but overall, Daniel and Allen try to stay in the moment and focus on the playoff possibilities!

Episode 91: There's a Shot to Left
Friday Sep 07, 2018
Friday Sep 07, 2018
It wasn't the best week of Cardinal baseball we've seen recently but the club still is currently a playoff team, so they have that going for them which is nice. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) spend some time talking about the week that was, especially the situation at the back of the bullpen. Does Bud Norris need to be replaced? Who should get the job if so? It was also a tough week for Jose Martinez and the team's overall record might have been much better had he or anyone else been able to come through in two key at-bats. Finally, Allen and Daniel mark 20 years since 62 with some talk about Mark McGwire and what that meant then and means now. Enjoy!

Episode 90: No Donaldson? No Problem! (Hopefully)
Friday Aug 31, 2018
Friday Aug 31, 2018
The buzzed-about, anticipated-by-some, almost-seemingly inevitable combination of Josh Donaldson and the St. Louis Cardinals didn't actually materialize, with the club apparently not that interested and Donaldson winding up in Cleveland. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (Red Dirt Redbird, @amedlock1) talk about the pros and cons of not adding a former MVP into an already interesting mix. That's not all they talk about, of course. The guys cover the 40-man roster and how Adam Wainwright gets back on there. They discuss the pennant race and why they aren't quite ruling out a division title yet. They talk about the young pitchers and Greg Garcia. A hodgepodge of topics and a little scoreboard watching here during the last show of August!
