Episode 46: Getting By With A Little Help From Our Friends
Friday Sep 22, 2017
Friday Sep 22, 2017
After the Cardinals were swept last weekend by the Cubs, pretty much everything seemed lost and it felt like they were just playing out the string. Less than a week later, the Redbirds sit 1.5 games out of the wild card due to some losses by Colorado and Milwaukee. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) try to make sense of this turn of events, but really can't figure it out. The guys talk about the "bad process, good outcome" manuevers of Mike Matheny in the ninth of Friday's game as well as whether this run has saved his job. They also talk about how good Matt Carpenter has been (hint--it's actually pretty good) and the way the offense has clicked in a way that's similar but different than the expectation at the beginning of the year. Plus the guys do some scoreboard watching and looking ahead to next week!

Bonus: Is This a Rebellion?
Monday Sep 18, 2017
Monday Sep 18, 2017
Again, fair warning, there's no Cardinal talk on this one (well, save one reference) as we return to a galaxy far, far away. With obstacles keeping the rest of our rebel band away, Daniel (@C70) and Tina (@ErdrickStorm) spend some time talking about the recent Star Wars news. Colin Trevorrow is out as the director of Episode IX and J.J. Abrams is back in the director's chair. Is this a good thing? Do directors matter that much in the long run? And what does this say about Lucasfilm that they continue to swap out helmers?
After discussing that behind-the-scenes stuff, Daniel and Tina turn their attention to the next Star Wars media available, the fourth season of Star Wars Rebels. This will be the last year of the show so there are a lot of things that need to be wrapped up. What is the fate of Ezra, Kanan, and others on the Ghost crew? How closely will they tie into Rogue One? Will they leave some open threads that can be picked up in future projects? All this and much more!

Episode 45: It's Getting Late Out There
Friday Sep 15, 2017
Friday Sep 15, 2017
The guys would much rather be talking about all the good stuff that the Cardinals have been doing lately, but when they go out and drop a big game to the rival Cubs, that's going to suck up a lot of the oxygen in the room. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) talk about Friday's game in Wrigley and how tenuous is the thread the Cardinals are hanging on to. They talk about Matt Carpenter and how the shoulder has apparently gotten him to just want to walk, whether Carlos Martinez is the ace of the staff and how today's outing impacts that, and how they feel about the games coming up. Plus they answer a Twitter question about baseball movies!
As always, the guys would really appreciate any ratings (1 star is fine, more are great) and reviews so they know that you are enjoying the show!

Episode 44: Crunch Time
Saturday Sep 09, 2017
Saturday Sep 09, 2017
Hard to believe that the season just has three weeks left in it and the St. Louis Cardinals are still in the playoff hunt. While the odds are still not in their favor, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) are doing a little scoreboard watching while they keep an eye on the play of the Cardinals. And that play has seemed to improve lately, though perhaps that's more a factor of their competition. Whatever the case, there's a lot of good things happening, including Luke Weaver in the rotation and new addition Juan Nicasio in the bullpen. Injuries are still in the mix, however. How much of Matt Carpenter's season can be blamed on that shoulder? Is it a good thing that he's back out there? Plus we close with a tribute to Don Williams, a favorite of Allen's grandfather.

Bonus: Season Ending Minors Talk
Thursday Sep 07, 2017
Thursday Sep 07, 2017
Kyle Reis (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416) joins Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) after a couple of weeks to talk a bit about the minor league system. It was a good year for the farm as a whole and we've seen some of the fruits of that in the big leagues. Kyle gives a brief look back and talks about folks like Jack Flaherty that are in St. Louis and a guy in Austin Gomber that for some reason isn't. The guys also talk about Eli Alvarez and the trade that sent him to Philadelphia as well as the Arizona Fall League participants. Just a good solid overview of how things are going right now!

Episode 43: The Changes Start Early
Friday Sep 01, 2017
Friday Sep 01, 2017
Some new faces wearing Cardinal red this week and it wasn't entirely because the calendar flipped over to September. Somehow John Mozeliak and Michael Girsch found someone that would take Mike Leake and that he'd waive his no-trade clause for. Then Kevin Siegrist was shown the door. What do all these changes mean? What about the young guys like Jack Flaherty and Sandy Alcantara? Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) get into all that and more about what might happen this offseason with the 40-man roster. The stretch run is starting so listen in to be prepared!

Bonus: An Off Day in a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Monday Aug 28, 2017
Monday Aug 28, 2017
If you are looking for Cardinals baseball, be sure to scroll down the feed for Allen and Daniel's regular show. This one is something entirely different! Daniel gathers a few other Cardinal bloggers that are also huge Star Wars fans to talk about that universe. Kyle Reis (@kyler416), Tina Bradley (@ErdrickStorm), and Steven McNeil (@SMcNeil_87) come together to talk about the rumored Obi-Wan Kenobi stand-alone movie as well as what, if anything, Force Friday means to them. Does Obi-Wan have to stay in the desert? Do the stand-alones need to branch out from the original trilogy time period? Will anyone besides ubergeek Daniel be out at midnight for plastic toys? All that and much more! Please let us know if you enjoy the show and, if so, we may try to do it a little bit more often. If you aren't a Star Warsian, please just skip on to the shows that fit more in your wheelhouse. We hope you enjoy!

Episode 42: Resignation
Saturday Aug 26, 2017
Saturday Aug 26, 2017
No, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) aren't quitting the show or anything. But after a week where the Cards lost two of three to a iffy Padres team then dropped the series opener against the Rays, it's real hard to work up any sort of enthusiasm for this squad. Then you realize that, instead of removing him from the rotation, Mike Leake will be making his start Saturday, that Michael Wacha seems to be struggling as well, that Trevor Rosenthal's Tommy John diagonsis has left the entire bullpen in an uproar, and it's hard to really see how this team, now at .500 even as they are 4.5 back, can do much of anything in September. Stranger things have happened but not many. The guys talk about all that and announce a different podcast coming on Monday!

Bonus: Rotating Bullpen Arms and AFL
Thursday Aug 24, 2017
Thursday Aug 24, 2017
In this week's bonus talk with Kyle Reis (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416), we talk about the various bullpen arms that have or might be coming up to the big leagues, what the meaning of the sudden moving of Sandy Alcantara to the bullpen is, and who should and could be pitching this weekend in Mike Leake's spot. There's also some discussion of the Arizona Fall League and what's been going on this week in the minors, so give it a listen!

Episode 41: Anybody's Arm Still Attached?
Monday Aug 21, 2017
Monday Aug 21, 2017
Technical difficulties pushed this week's episode off a few days, but that's just par for the course for things around the Cardinals these days, especially when it comes to those that throw the ball. Adam Wainwright and Trevor Rosenthal both have gone to the DL but the questions surround the rotation and the bullpen go beyond just those two guys. Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) get into all of the other options around those absences. Can Luke Weaver fill the gap? Should there be more reinforcements from Memphis? What about dealing for someone like Justin Verlander? Plenty of pitching talk but that's not all! Give us a listen and then drop us some stars and a review!
