Episode 23: An Opening Week Lacking in Jedi

After last week's technical debacle prevented a show from being released, Daniel again meets up with Allen and is joined this time by Kyle Reis, also of The Redbird Daily.  The season has kicked off and after an Opening Night full of excitement, the rest of the week hasn't been so great.  The guys go through what went right and what went wrong in the first four games.  We also get to hear about Kyle's prospect obsession Luis Robert and his chances of coming to St. Louis plus a little look at how the minors are going so far.

Episode 22: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Baseball

It's just over a week until Opening Night and the games and the stats are starting to mean a little bit more.  Daniel Shoptaw (C70 At The Bat) and Allen Medlock (The Redbird Daily) talk about the recent winning streak by the Cardinals and what the roster is going to look like this season.  Does it matter that Matt Adams is playing a little left field?  How much rope do you give Kolten Wong?  Is Miguel Socolovich going north with the club?  The guys also answer your Twitter questions and give a #CardsMadness update.  (Please vote for @C70 Saturday afternoon/Sunday in his Sweet 16 matchup!)

Episode 21: #CardsMadness

If it's the last few weeks of spring training, it must be time for #CardsMadness, the Twitter contest designed by John Nagel of The Redbird Daily.  To break down this year's bracket, Daniel and Allen are joined by Tara Wellman of Bird Seeds and Gateway To Baseball Heaven fame.  They talk about the possible upsets, who the top seeds are and should be, and who is going to walk away with the title.  It's a free-wheeling, fun-filled discussion about a great time-waster!

Episode 20: Shaping the Roster

With John still unavailable, Daniel and Allen team up again to talk about the week that was in Cardinal camp.  How much stock should we put on Michael Wacha's strong spring?  Can we tell anything from the way the games have gone so far?  The guys also break down the 25-man roster possibilities, which are less numerous than you might think.  Also some World Baseball Classic talk and your Twitter questions!

Episode 19: The Kids and the Hall

John Nagel was again on assignment as they say in the radio business (that assignment being a great dad) and so Allen Medlock of The Redbird Daily sat in again with Daniel to talk about the beginning of spring training and to break down the Cardinals' Hall of Fame ballot which was released this week.  Plenty of talk about the first week of games, including who is looking sharp and who is off to a slow start.  How serious is this back injury to Matt Carpenter?  What do we make of this start coming up by Trevor Rosenthal?  And which two legendary Cardinals would these guys put in the Hall?  All of this and much, much more!

Episode 18: The Boys Are Back In Town

Well, at least back in Jupiter.  After an episode's hiatus, John Nagel (@CardinalsFarm) returns to the co-host chair to talk about all that's going on in Cardinal Nation with Daniel Shoptaw (@C70). Pitchers and catchers--as well as the rest of the team--have reported to Florida and are just days away from taking the field in actual competition.  John and Daniel touch on some older news, such as the Carlos Martinez extension and the results of the Correa Computer Crisis, before getting into the big news, the loss of Alex Reyes for the entire 2017 season due to Tommy John surgery.  How much does this impact the chances this season?  What does this mean for Reyes going forward?  Do the Cardinals need to go and get another pitcher?
Plus John goes over the running prospect list from The Redbird Daily and the guys answer Twitter questions.  Be sure to spend a little time on their projects and rating the show!

Episode 17: Now Batting for John Nagel....

With John unavailable for this recording session, Daniel turned to Redbird Daily contributor Allen Medlock to fill the co-host chair.  After talking about Allen's background, the guys get into discussing some of the news since the last show, including the expected arbitration hearings of Carlos Martinez and Michael Wacha, the usage of Yadier Molina, and other stuff that came out of the Winter Warmup.  They look at the rotation and who might be in and out with the help of some Twitter questions before briefly touching on the MLB Pipeline Top 100.  As always, they wrap with some more Twitter questions, including discussing one of Brandon Schaeffer's Twitter trade proposals.  It's a long one but a good one!

Episode 16: Casting a Net and Catching a Fowler

There's been plenty of activity since John and Daniel got together to talk about the Cardinals, but no move was as big as the last one, as the Cardinals signed Dexter Fowler to a five-year deal.  Was it a good move?  How surprising was the fact the Cards surrendered a draft pick?  Does this improve the team and what is the lineup going to look like?  The guys also touch on the other moves, such as Brayan Pena, Seth Maness, and the Jaime Garcia trade.
While there's a lot that's already happened, that doesn't mean John Mozeliak is done.  The guys talk about what could happen, what should happen, and what will happen before John breaks down the players received in the Garcia deal as part of The Futures Report.  The guys then tackle the Twitter questions and plan out their offseason schedule.

Episode 15: Handing Out The Hardware

The World Series has come and gone and, stunningly, we now live in a world where the Cubs are champs.  Daniel and John don't dwell much on that, however, digging into the moves the Cardinals have made since the last out of Game 7.  Was Mike Matheny's extension too long?  Was it a good move to pick up Jaime Garcia's option and let Brandon Moss walk?  How bad is it that Tyler Lyons is out for a good chunk of 2017?
After that, the guys move into the Cardinal Blogger Award ballot and give their picks on who should take home the prizes.  (If you want to vote, head over to www.unitedcardinalbloggers.com).  John then talks about some of the Arizona Fall League results, with a focus on Paul DeJong, before the guys tackle the Twitter questions from the listeners.  It's a full show, but it should tide you over until the next one early in December!

Episode 14: Something's Not Right Here

Hang on, the calendar says it's October but the Cardinals aren't playing baseball.  Are you kidding me?  There's got to be something wrong with the universe.  Who do I talk to about fixing this?
Until things get sorted out, Daniel welcomes back John and they talk about the end of the season, including the tributes to Matt Holliday and how he ended his Cardinal career (plus Daniel's slightly crazy theory about why the Cards aren't bringing him back).  The guys then talk about the first decisions that need to be made in the offseason.  Do you exercise Jaime Garcia's option?  Offer a qualifying offer to Brandon Moss?  Tender Trevor Rosenthal a contract?  Lots for Mo to do even before you get into free agency and trades.
