Episode 64: It's Spring Training For Us Too
Friday Feb 16, 2018
Friday Feb 16, 2018
The pitchers and catchers (and, really, most everyone else) are working out in Jupiter. Cardinal baseball is just one week away from kicking off the spring slate. Which means there is so, so much for Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) to discuss. Adam Wainwright says that he's not thinking about anything more than one day at a time. That doesn't mean the rest of us have that mindset, though. Can Waino be good? What happens if he's not?
John Mozeliak spent some time talking to the press. Do you agree that the club had an active and productive offseason? Should they be more reactionary in their moves than they are?
Mike Matheny had some comments about Carlos Martinez. You can imagine how well that went over.
Then the guys talk about their 25-man roster picks, answer some Twitter questions, and talk about the last three Favorite Cardinals. Give it a listen and don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review!

Bonus: Checking In With The Galaxy Far, Far Away
Wednesday Feb 14, 2018
Wednesday Feb 14, 2018
Solo trailer. Rebels finale trailer. More movies announced. With all of this Star Wars goodness out there, it was time to check in again with our panel of Jedi. Daniel (@C70) talks with Steven McNeil (@SMcNeil_87) and Tina Bradley (@ErdrickStorm) about everything that's come down the pipe in the last few weeks. Does the Solo trailer make these folks more interested in the movie? Can we adjust to someone not named Harrison Ford playing the scoundrel? What's up with the Falcon? The Rebels mid-season trailer, teasing the last three weeks of shows, brings up its share of questions as well. And has Disney made a misstep by tapping the Game of Thrones guys for a series of movies? All that, plus the pressing question: Can we ever have too much Star Wars?
(Apologies for the sound quality, especially at the beginning. If this was a professional operation, we'd probably be able to clean that up. As you know by now, if there's a professional center of the galaxy you're listening to the podcast that it's farthest from.)

Episode 63: The Optimist's Guide to the 2018 Cardinals
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
Sunday Feb 11, 2018
It's later in the weekend than normal, but Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) get together for the last show before pitchers and catchers officially report. The guys first talk about the news of the week, which consisted of Yu Darvish being signed by that team in the north. After those reactions, it's their upbeat and reasonably optimistic look at what the Cardinals might do this season. While they'll admit to some rose-colored glasses, they aren't expecting everyone to hit like Mike Trout and the club to win 120 games. Just some positively realistic thinking about the upcoming season. They wrap it up with #4-#7 in the Favorite Cardinal poll, with names you know in perhaps surprising positions. Don't forget to rate, review, and let the guys know what you think!

Episode 62: Hall of Fame Talk, Cardinal Style
Saturday Feb 03, 2018
Saturday Feb 03, 2018
It was another fairly quiet week from the Cardinals but that doesn't mean there wasn't something to talk about. The 2018 Cardinal Hall of Fame ballot dropped on Wednesday and Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) brought in Kyle Reis (Birds on the Black, @kyler416) to talk about it. They break down the entire ballot, talking about the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate (Vince Coleman, Keith Hernandez, Jason Isringhausen, Ray Lankford, Scott Rolen, Lee Smith, John Tudor) and giving their predictions of who will be wearing a red jacket come August.
After that, the guys get into some of the labor issues that made the headlines this week and where baseball might be going down a dark path. To lighten the mood, they wrap with a few more Favorite Cardinals as they get inside the top 10 of the survey. Plenty to listen to as you get ready for pitchers and catchers to report in 10 days!

Episode 61: Central to the Conversation
Saturday Jan 27, 2018
Saturday Jan 27, 2018
The Cardinals might not have made moves this week but one of their main competitors for the NL Central crown certainly did. Milwaukee traded for Christian Yelich and signed Lorenzo Cain, making a huge splash in the still offseason waters. Does that give the Brewers a leg up for the division? Should Mo make a counter move and, if so, what? Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) talk about that, plus Randal Grichuk's comments, the Hall of Fame voting, and some more of your Favorite Cardinals, including a couple of Cardinal Hall of Famers and one guy that might just join them this summer.

Episode 60: Another One to the Frozen North
Saturday Jan 20, 2018
Saturday Jan 20, 2018
After Winter Warm Up brought a little warmth to baseball fans, the stove caught fire and brought the heat as well. Randal Grichuk is now a Blue Jay and the Cardinals have addressed their bullpen. Is this a good move and what do we make of Dominic Leone? Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) tackle that issue as well as other things coming out of the baseball extravaganza from last weekend. Plus they answer your Twitter questions and get a few more Favorite Cardinals checked off the list. Settle in for some fun Cardinal discussions!

Episode 59: Let's Warm This Winter Up!
Friday Jan 12, 2018
Friday Jan 12, 2018
It's Winter Warmup time, which is the kickoff not only of another baseball season, but another season of Meet Me at Musial! Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) have their first guest as Adam Butler, also of The Redbird Daily (and @LanceDance1 on the Twitters) joins them to talk specifically about Winter Warm-Up, which will be happening in St. Louis this weekend. Adam is one of the three United Cardinal Bloggers that will be covering the event and we talk about what he expects to see and topics of conversation at the event. Plus the guys break down the arbitration signings, talk about what the Cards should still do this offseason, and go over a few more Favorite Cardinals!

Bonus: Breaking Down The Last Jedi
Saturday Dec 30, 2017
Saturday Dec 30, 2017
There was a little movie that came out this month and it seemed reasonable for the Star Wars crew to get together and break it down. Joining Daniel (@C70) this time beside stalwart commentators Tina (@ErdickStrom) and Steven (@SMcNeil_87) is a returning Kyle (@kyler416) and, making his debut, Tito (@triveratops). There was a wide range of opinions on this movie and the crew get into a lot of the plot points as well as things that worked and things that didn't. (Obviously, DO NOT LISTEN if you have not seen the movie.) Plenty of good discussion is then followed up by a series of rapid fire questions. End your year by heading to a galaxy far, far away!

Episode 58: A Bust of an Offseason?
Friday Dec 29, 2017
Friday Dec 29, 2017
After taking a bit of time off for Christmas, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) are back to talk about all the comings and goings for the St. Louis Cardinals. Let see, that'd be....well, there was....maybe....
OK, sure, it's been quiet since Marcell Ozuna came and Stephen Piscotty left, but is that a reason to write off the offseason? Are the Cardinals done? If they are, is the team better than it was when the season ended almost three months ago? Daniel and Allen hash out why judging everything right now probably isn't the wisest thing.
Then they tackle some more of the Favorite Cardinals, including at least three Cooperstown members, a guy that redefined the game, and a number of '80s stalwarts. Buckle in and spend the end of 2017 with us!

Episode 57: One Outfielder Exits, One Outfielder Enters
Thursday Dec 14, 2017
Thursday Dec 14, 2017
It was an active week for the Cardinals and Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) needed some assistance to get it covered completely, so they brought in Special Guest Star Tara Wellman (@tarawellman) of Gateway to Baseball Heaven and Bird Seeds fame to dig into it all. Marcell Ozuna is the Marlin the Cardinals land--what are some reasonable expectations of him? Did Miami get a solid return for their side of the bargain? Stephen Piscotty is now an Oakland A. Are the Cardinals really just being altruistic? There's talk about players from Tampa Bay as well as Manny Machado. Will any of those deals get done? Plenty of wood on the hot stove, so pull up a chair and listen in!
