Episode 42: Resignation

No, Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) aren't quitting the show or anything.  But after a week where the Cards lost two of three to a iffy Padres team then dropped the series opener against the Rays, it's real hard to work up any sort of enthusiasm for this squad.  Then you realize that, instead of removing him from the rotation, Mike Leake will be making his start Saturday, that Michael Wacha seems to be struggling as well, that Trevor Rosenthal's Tommy John diagonsis has left the entire bullpen in an uproar, and it's hard to really see how this team, now at .500 even as they are 4.5 back, can do much of anything in September.  Stranger things have happened but not many.  The guys talk about all that and announce a different podcast coming on Monday!

Bonus: Rotating Bullpen Arms and AFL

In this week's bonus talk with Kyle Reis (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416), we talk about the various bullpen arms that have or might be coming up to the big leagues, what the meaning of the sudden moving of Sandy Alcantara to the bullpen is, and who should and could be pitching this weekend in Mike Leake's spot.  There's also some discussion of the Arizona Fall League and what's been going on this week in the minors, so give it a listen!

Episode 41: Anybody's Arm Still Attached?

Technical difficulties pushed this week's episode off a few days, but that's just par for the course for things around the Cardinals these days, especially when it comes to those that throw the ball.  Adam Wainwright and Trevor Rosenthal both have gone to the DL but the questions surround the rotation and the bullpen go beyond just those two guys.  Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) get into all of the other options around those absences.  Can Luke Weaver fill the gap?  Should there be more reinforcements from Memphis?  What about dealing for someone like Justin Verlander?  Plenty of pitching talk but that's not all!  Give us a listen and then drop us some stars and a review!

Episode 40: First Place Cards

It's fair to say Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) didn't see that coming.  One week after lamenting a rough season that just seemed like it was getting worse, the Cardinals have soared to first place on the basis of an eight game winning streak.  This turnaround has basically had everyone at a loss for words, but Allen and Daniel give it a shot anyway.  What's gone right over this week?  What hasn't?  Because there are still rough spots out there.  A quick recap of a number of players and a look ahead to next week and the weeks beyond as the guys just revel in this reversal of fortune!

Episode 39: Down and Out in the NL Central

It's getting harder and harder to find things to talk about with this team (assuming you don't want to dwell on the players' Instagram accounts) but Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) give it a go anyway.  The Cardinals didn't help out much, making absolutely no deals at the trade deadline.  Was that the right thing to do, either from a competitive perspective or a business one?  The club then lost three of four, including another offensive snoozer in Cincinnati Friday night.  Is this just a temporary downturn or is this going to last a while?  All that plus an opportunity for you to help out a fellow blogger!

Bonus: Minors Talk With Kyle

Given how long the main shows go and how in depth we can get with our minors segment, we decided trying to break it out this week as a bonus episode and see how that works.  Daniel sits down with Kyle Reis (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416) and talked about his new masters-level podcast with Colin Garner about the minors called Prospect to be Named Later (search for it on iTunes or wherever you are listening from!).  They also get into some pitchers that got promoted over the last week as well as some of the prospects we have seen/are seeing in the big leagues now and what their usage or lack thereof means for their development and the team in general.

Episode 38: Some Tired Discussion

It was a fun Friday in Cardinal Nation as Yadier Molina took offense at an article and put his manager on Instablast.  Who was right, who was wrong, and does it mean as much as we think?  Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) are joined by Kyle (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416) to talk about a story that could only seem to happen to the 2017 Cardinals.  Does it matter that Tommy Pham, Dexter Fowler, and all "liked" the post?  How crazy does it feel to be even talking about such minutia?
The guys also tackle the upcoming trade deadline.  What will the Cardinals do?  Will Lance Lynn stay a member of the squad?  Is it possible to have as many outfielders as St. Louis does and NOT move one or two of them?  Who stays, who goes in the next few days?
Plus Kyle gives us a rundown on some of the minor league talent and picks out a couple of players that might move in a deal.  So much to listen for!

The Cardinals have come out of the break like they played most of the first half--not good enough to dominate, not bad enough to fully sell off.  Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) talk about the last week of ballgames, the frustrating late losses and the highs of watching 11 Cardinals come to the plate at Wrigley and none of them get out.  Then they get into Friday's roster moves and trade of Marco Gonzales and what that means for what's coming up.  Is there something more brewing in the Redbird front office?  Finally the guys tackle a couple of Cardinal Twitter hot topics, Mike Matheny's job status and Matt Carpenter's.....Matt Carpenterness.

The Cardinals are back from the All-Star Break, but not much seems to have changed, dropping their first one out of the second-half gate on a ninth-inning walkoff.  Daniel (C70 At The Bat, @C70) and Allen (The Redbird Daily, @amedlock1) are joined by minor league expert Kyle Reis (The Redbird Daily, @kyler416) to not only talk about what's going on at the big league level and what the direction of the team might be as the trading deadline draws near, but also to have an expanded conversation about some of the names that are bubbling around the system.  Are these folks that are going to be traded or are they folks that are going to force a trade?  Who's been a surprise and who's been a disappointment?  You'll find a lot of very fascinating minor league information here as well as a good conversation about the big league club.  Get comfortable and give it a listen!
